Quick Start

This page is the fastest path to a working setup in combination with the Pcnautic Autopilot.

Install the hardware

1

Connect NMEA 2000

Plug the BoatController’s NMEA-2000 connection into your vessel’s NMEA-2000 network.

2

Connect USB to the Pcnautic AP

Plug BoatController’s USB into the Pcnautic AP USB port.

3

Power On

Enable the power supply of your NMEA-2000 bus and wait 1–2 minutes for everything to boot.

After this, basic functionality is already present. Your Autopilot is able to read data on your NMEA2000 bus and some of the Autopilot's data is published to your NMEA2000 bus.

Connect to the web UI

1

On your phone/tablet/laptop, connect to the BoatController WiFi access point: pcnautic_BC.

2

Open your browser and go to: http://bc.pcnautic.com.

Connect to the Autopilot

If you have connected the Boatcontroller to the autopilot, either via the USB connection or using WiFi, you can simply browse to http://ap.pcnautic.com to access the Autopilot.

Advanced

You can configure the Boatcontroller in numerous ways. See this page for more information.

Moreover, you can access SignalK running on your Boatcontroller using the link you can see on http://bc.pcnautic.com, though using this may potentially break some Boatcontroller features.

Troubleshooting (quick fixes)

  • Can’t open bc.pcnautic.com

    • Confirm you are connected to WiFi pcnautic_BC not your home/marina WiFi.

    • Try http://bc.pcnautic.com (include http://) or http://10.24.0.1.

    • Reboot BoatController and retry after 1–2 minutes.

  • No NMEA 2000 data

    • Check backbone power and terminators.

    • Try a different T-connector/drop cable.

    • Verify the rest of the N2K network is alive (e.g., another display sees data).
