Boat Information

All of the values in the boat information screen are optional. Currently just the GPS, Depth Sounder, and Dimensions fields are occasionally used. In future, other fields may also be used for new features or ancillary devices.

Name

Enter the registered name of your boat into this field. Usually this would be the same name as written on the hull and registered with authorities.

VHF/AIS

Enter your MMSI (if you have one), VHF callsign (if you have one) and the type of boat. The type of boat may be entered regardless of whether an MMSI or VHF callsign is entered.

Dimensions

Enter the physical dimensions of your ship. This may be used to influence how your boat is drawn in navigation tools.

GPS

Enter the position of your GPS antenna. This may be used by your AIS transponder if a true heading is also available. Additionally, navigation tools may use this to more accurately position your ship.

Depth Sounder

Enter the distance from your transducer to the waterline and the bottom of the keel so that exact depths can be calculated.
